LCCA is an ambitious, energetic institution committed to developing confident, creative graduates ready for the evolving world of work. Recognising our diverse student population, including mature learners and those from widening participation backgrounds, LCCA is expanding its Careers and Employability support to include accessible evening and weekend provision.

We are seeking two passionate Careers and Employability Consultants to job share our evening and weekend careers service, ensuring comprehensive, flexible, and accessible support for our students at times that suit their needs.

Position

Purpose of the Role

The Evening and Weekend Careers and Employability Consultants will deliver specialist careers guidance and employability support to LCCA students, with a particular focus on mature and widening participation learners who require flexible out-of-hours services. Operating as a job share, these roles will ensure continuity of service and high-quality student support during evenings and weekends, helping students balance their studies, career development, and personal commitments.

Requirements

Experience Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in careers/employability services, ideally within higher education
  • Proven experience delivering career coaching and workshops

Desirable:

  • Experience working with mature, diverse, or WP student populations
  • Experience using digital employability platforms

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

Consultant A – Evenings

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–9:00 PM (20 hours/week, approx. 0.5 FTE)
  • Provide tailored careers advice, coaching, and employability guidance to students individually and in groups during weekday evenings.
  • Plan and deliver accessible employability workshops suited to evening learners.
  • Support and advise diverse student cohorts, particularly mature and WP learners.
  • Collaborate with the wider Careers team to develop digital resources tailored to evening provision.
  • Monitor student engagement, maintaining accurate records and reports on service usage and outcomes.
  • Contribute to establishing robust processes, policies, and procedures for evening services.

Consultant B – Weekends

  • Hours: Saturday–Sunday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (16 hours/week, approx. 0.4 FTE)
  • Provide tailored careers coaching, guidance, and support to students during weekends.
  • Develop and deliver employability workshops and events specifically designed for weekend availability.
  • Support mature and WP students, offering empathetic and practical career guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Careers team to create weekend-specific resources and activities.
  • Regularly evaluate student engagement, recording outcomes and providing insightful reporting.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures specific to weekend delivery.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver engaging, tailored careers guidance, coaching, and workshops in evening or weekend slots.
  • Support mature and widening participation students with sensitivity, empathy, and practical advice.
  • Develop innovative resources and events designed specifically for students needing flexible hours.
  • Contribute to building new policies, processes, and services from the ground up.

  • Experienced careers professionals (ideally from HE, recruitment, or careers guidance/coaching backgrounds).
  • Individuals passionate about supporting diverse and mature student populations.
  • Adaptable and proactive professionals excited about contributing to the growth of a new careers and employability service.
  • Excellent communicators who thrive in student-facing environments.

Other information

Educational Requirements:

Essential:

  • Graduate or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant professional qualification in Careers Guidance, Coaching, HR, or similar

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in career development, coaching, or teaching

Skills & Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Detailed understanding of the graduate labour market and employability practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, online platforms, digital tools)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and proactive approach to managing ambiguity
  • Sensitivity and understanding of WP and mature learners’ specific needs

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with virtual careers platforms (e.g., Abintegro)
  • Understanding of higher education structures and culture

Competencies & Personal Attributes:

  • Highly organised, student-centred, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to inspire and motivate diverse student populations
  • Comfortable working independently in student-facing, open-plan environments
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Business Requirements:

  • Commitment to regular evening (Consultant A) or weekend (Consultant B) shifts
  • Occasional flexibility to support events or training sessions outside standard working hours
  • Potential for occasional travel between sites or external stakeholders

Salary: £37,000 to £42,000 depending on experience
