The role

Based at our Headington campus and reporting to the Senior Admissions Officer, you will be responsible for assessing and processing applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, making fair and accurate decisions in line with the University’s entry criteria. The role involves reviewing qualifications from the UK and over 180 countries, assessing fee status, and contributing to the University’s objectives of broadening access and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

The Admissions Office is at the heart of these ambitions, enabling equitable access for those with the potential to succeed at Oxford Brookes. The team delivers a high-quality applicant experience, providing timely and accurate assessments of applications while upholding fairness and transparency.

What will I be doing?

  • Assessing and processing applications for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, using professional expertise to make decisions on more complex cases.
  • Supporting Admissions Associates by reviewing decisions and providing advice and guidance.
  • Liaising with faculties, agents, and partners to ensure timely and accurate decisions.
  • Coordinating non-standard application assessments and contributing to confirmation and clearing activities.
  • Delivering excellent customer service to applicants, parents, and schools through correspondence and helpdesk support.
  • Assisting with recruitment events, such as Open Days, and providing advice on the admissions process.
  • Supporting the induction and training of new and existing admissions staff.

Which skills do I need?

  • A first degree (or equivalent professional qualification; or equivalent work experience).
  • An excellent standard of written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience in higher education admissions, including assessing and making decisions on applications from UK and international applicants.
  • Strong ability to work accurately within a database or CRM system, with the capability to make informed and complex decisions.
