Research Administrator

The role

Administrator (0.2 FTE for 2 years) for the AHRC-funded research project Colonial Reels: Histories and Afterlives of Colonial Film Collections, in the Department of Film and Television, School of Arts, University of Bristol. The Project Lead is Jacqueline Maingard, Associate Professor in Film. There are two Co-Leads, Emma Sandon, Birkbeck, University of London, and Samantha Iwowo, Bournemouth University. The team includes a Project Archivist and two Postdoctoral Research Associates. The project has four partner archives

What will you be doing?

Key duties include:

• Administrative tasks to support the project
• Establishing administrative systems for supporting the project
• Preparing documents, reports or communications
• Data entry and maintenance of relevant spreadsheets or databases
• Executive support to senior staff, including arranging travel and hospitality
• Managing internal and external communications, including minuting of meetings
• Creating and maintaining a website with associated social media
• Gaining and maintaining familiarity with research aims and adhering to relevant Standard Operating Procedures, governance and/or ethics requirements in their work
• Using relevant University systems, ensuring compliance with relevant policies
• Co-ordinating the administration and support materials for meetings, workshops, seminars, symposiums and conferences

You should apply if

• You have proven administrative experience
• Experience of creating and maintaining a project website and related social media
• Experience of working in a research team
• Excellent IT skills and excellent organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• An interest in any of the following: colonial history, film history and archives, African/Indian cinema, and decolonisation, or related fields
