We are looking for a Research Community Coordinator to join the Cancer Data-Driven Detection (CD3) programme.  CD3 is a new, multidisciplinary and multi-institutional strategic national research initiative dedicated to using data to revolutionise our understanding of cancer risk and enable early interception of cancers.

The CD3 Research Community Coordinator will be responsible for driving engagement and fostering collaboration among stakeholders within the CD3 initiative and the broader CRUK research data community. The role aims to connect researchers, policymakers and other key stakeholders across the UK cancer data ecosystem to ensure alignment and synergy in advancing data-driven cancer research. The post-holder will help build a vibrant, interconnected community that maximizes the impact of cancer data research on improving outcomes and driving innovation. Additionally, the role supports the Senior Research Programme Manager and the CD3 leadership team in community management activities.

The post-holder will be responsible for planning and delivering a range of activities, including events, training sessions and collaborative reviews, to support the CD3 initiative. This involves managing timelines, coordinating with stakeholders and prioritising tasks to ensure key project goals are met. The post-holder will work closely with the Senior Research Programme Manager and leadership team to adapt plans in response to evolving needs, maintain efficient workflows and ensure high-quality outcomes across all community engagement and management activities.

The post-holder will address challenges related to engaging a diverse community of stakeholders, ensuring alignment across varying priorities and facilitating collaboration in a dynamic research environment. The role requires proactive identification of issues, creative problem-solving to overcome barriers and the ability to implement practical solutions that support the community's goals.

The CD3 Research Community Coordinator will make independent decisions regarding the day-to-day planning and execution of community activities, including events, training, and communications. They will prioritise tasks and request resources to meet community needs effectively while ensuring alignment with the objectives of the CD3 initiative. At all stages, the post-holder will consult with the Senior Research Programme Manager and leadership team to ensure strategic coherence and stakeholder engagement.

The CD3 Research Community Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the Senior Research Programme Manager, the CD3 executive committee, and leads across workstreams, driver programmes and cross-cutting themes. They will also engage with members of the CD3 research community, such as researchers, early career professionals and domain experts, as well as external collaborators and partners involved in events, training, and collaborative projects.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or have an equivalent level of practical experience.  They will have excellent communication and organisational skills with experience of organising events and managing digital platforms, ideally with experience with communications tools such as Slack, GitHub or similar platforms.

The funds for these posts are available for 5 years from commencement in post.

This is a full-time position. Part-time to 80% FTE will be considered.
