We are the first new UK education institution for 50 years to be granted full degree-awarding power since inception, and offer Bachelor's, Master's, and soon an MBA programme that take a ground-breaking interdisciplinary approach to education.

Role Overview

Join the Registry Team and be at the heart of supporting teaching delivery and experience for our degree cohorts and professional learners. This is a full-time permanent position based at our London campus but with the opportunity for remote working (between 2-3 days per week).   This is your chance to be part of a vibrant, innovative community through championing and delivering effective academic quality assurance and governance.

Working across the institution, the appointed individual will be a vital part of the operation of the School's quality assurance and governance systems dealing with a broad range of quality assurance including the National Student's Survey, external examining, partnerships and monitoring.

This varied role requires strong administrative and organisational skills. The ability to handle a competing workload, maintain accuracy and have an eye to detail are essential for this post.

DUTIES

Your core duties will include, but are not limited to:

Quality Assurance

  • Full Degree Awarding Powers - Monitor and collate evidence for the School's Full Degree Awarding Powers plan ensuring mapping against OFS FDAPS criteria.
  • External Examiner process. Liaise with and induct External Examiners on their role, provide information, answer queries, formulate formal responses to External Examiner reports, manage appointments of new External Examiners.
  • Programme Approval/modification - to manage and administer the programme approval and modification process, ensuring programme documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Student Surveys - Manage all student surveys, reporting the results internally and manage the School's participation in the National Student' Survey (NSS).
  • Student Representation System - manage the Schools student representation system, arranging voting, induction, providing guidance and support to student representatives.
  • Manage and administer Annual Programme monitoring
  • Internal audits - Manage and administer the School's cycle of internal reviews and audits
  • Review existing and develop new policy and regulations
  • Provide guidance on School policy and regulation as well as national frameworks such as the FHEQ
  • Coordinate the termly ‘Townhall' student meeting
  • Manage the School's student anonymous dropbox, ensuring responses are provided
  • Manage the provision of feedback on student surveys (You, Said, We Did)
  • Provide training and induction sessions on Quality Assurance for staff
  • Develop and circulate reports for staff and governance committees on quality assurance and standards including the Annual Quality Report.
  • To amend the School's Student Handbook annually
  • To manage the approval of all assessment briefs, examination papers and module records
  • Assisting the Registrar in preparing the School for reviews by external organisations;

School wide events

  • Working with colleagues across the School, coordinate the annual induction week for all new and returning students.
  • Working with colleagues across the School, coordinate the annual graduation ceremony.

Widening Participation

  • To develop and monitor the School's Access and Participation Plan (APP)

Governance

  • Supporting high-level committees and working groups through drafting agenda, writing and collating committee papers, minuting, and liaising with the Chair and committee membership;
  • Supporting with delivery of annual reports to the Academic Council
  • Act as Secretary to the Examination Board
  • Provide training, guidance and induction sessions on governance

Complaints and Appeals

  • To manage the School's students' complaints and appeals processes
  • To undertake student case work in relation to complaints and appeals as directed
  • To liaise with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIAHE)

Academic Partnerships

  • To support the development and planning of academic partnership with external organisations

Assessment

  • Act as Secretary to the Examination Board
  • Working with colleagues in the Registry ensure that all students are provided with transcripts at the end of the academic year,
  • Plan and arrange marking and moderation
  • Manage the determination of assessment deadlines
  • Act as Secretary to the Extenuating circumstances Panel

Liaison and communication

  • To liaise with colleagues in Registry and Faculty regarding the preparation of and results and actions from Examination Boards.
  • To liaise with Faculty, Student Support and External Examiners in relation to reasonable adjustments in assessment.
  • To liaise with colleagues across the School in relation to programme, module or assessment changes.
  • To liaise with external partners on the development and operation of academic partnerhsips

Other duties

  • Acting as Secretary to internal meetings as needed
  • Work in line with GDPR, LIS' policies, procedures and regulations
  • Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post
  • Strive to improve administrative processes
  • Participate in the reception rota with all other staff during term time.

The role is available immediately.

Requirements

  • Applicants will have experience of university administration, together with the ability to organise a busy workload, attention to detail, excellent communication and the ability to work within a team and independently.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including experience of working with excel is essential.
  • Desirable applicants will have worked in academic quality assurance, governance or academic partnerships in another higher education institution.

Benefits

  • £41k - £52k base salary, depending on level of experience
  • Flexible working arrangements: a minimum of 2/3 days per week on campus in East London and up to 1 month remote working abroad annually
