Sheffield Hallam University are recruiting for a Researcher in Advanced Sensor Technology to support the acquisition of a range of environmental and operational data in the digitisation of food manufacturing processes for processing using applied AI techniques. We anticipate the successful applicant will develop novel sensing approaches to combine with machine learning algorithms to solve real-world problems in food manufacturing.
You will have sound knowledge in electronic engineering, embedded systems design, and Internet-of-Things / Industry 4.0 technologies. Knowledge of computer science principles and modern AI approaches in computer vision and / or time series analysis is a plus.
The position requires strong teamwork and communication skills, reliability, attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to independently lead their own programme of research.
You will have an MSc and ideally have a PhD (or working towards) or the equivalent experience, in Electronic Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering including a firm grounding in developing sensor systems. Candidates with excellent engineering, computational and quantitative skills matching the above approaches are also encouraged to apply.
