Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is seeking a Short Academic Programmes Academic Director to join the College’s enthusiastic and hard-working team Short Academic Programmes team. Every summer Lady Margaret Hall is proud to welcome enthusiastic and intellectually curious undergraduate and graduate students from across the globe to take part in residential and online short academic programmes at the College. The LMH Summer Programmes consist of a range of 3-week courses delivered across a 9-week season in the University vacation, designed and taught by academics from Lady Margaret Hall and other colleges in the University of Oxford. The Short Academic Programmes team, consisting of the Head of SAP and the SAP Administrator, and supported by the LMH Conference team, manage all aspects of the programmes, including promotion and student recruitment, working with lecturers and tutors to create high-quality academic courses, supporting engaging and seamless participation for online students, and for residential students planning and delivering a social and cultural programme, and organising meals and accommodation at College. These programmes represent a thriving business which generates income to support the academic mission of Lady Margaret Hall.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SAP Academic Director to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading academic programme development, leading academic programme delivery, overseeing student progress and assessment, supporting student recruitment and representing and reporting. This role is perfect for an academic with experience of designing and developing courses and teaching at university level, with the academic credibility and personal qualities to lead a team of teaching staff and represent the College professionally to international universities and their students. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking initiative, establishing standards and processes, and driving change. The role requires good judgment in decision-making, excellent organisational skills, and confidence in communication and public-speaking.
You'll be part of a supportive, welcoming team dedicated to delivering outstanding academic programmes and creating memorable social and cultural experiences for our visiting international students. LMH offers a friendly and varied work environment, along with a range of benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, membership of the College’s pension scheme, free lunches and interest-free travel ticket loans. As an 'Investors in People' employer, LMH is proud to be the only college in Oxford to have achieved a gold award.
The role is 0.62 FTE, an average of 24 hours per week. The demands of the role, however, are somewhat seasonal. Late June to late August is the busiest period, and additional hours worked during this time would be taken back as time off in lieu through reduced weekly hours at other times of the year, which may allow flexibility for candidates with term-time teaching commitments. Candidates must be able to attend some events during evenings and weekends during the summer delivery season, and undertake occasional overseas travel at other times of the year, for which time off in lieu will similarly be granted.
Further details of the role and how to apply can be found via the 'Apply' button.
The closing date is noon on Monday 24th March 2025. First interviews are expected to take place on Monday 31st March and Tuesday 1st April.
