You are invited to apply for the role of Research Assistant on a qualitative interview study examining screening and spotting cancer in people with cystic fibrosis (CF), funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about qualitative research that aims to improve health care and patient outcomes. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Laura Ashley, and with the wider research team of academic and clinical colleagues including Professors Daniel Peckham and Nicholas Simmonds and Dr Kate Lippiett.
As the study Research Assistant, you will be a key member of the team supporting delivery of the research project. Your main duties will include recruiting and interviewing people with CF and health care professionals, assisting with data analysis, and contributing to write-up and dissemination of the findings.
Medical advances have hugely improved life expectancy for people with CF. As people with CF live longer, it has become apparent they have an increased risk of developing cancer at a younger age. It is recommended CF care now includes a focus on cancer prevention and early detection, tailored to the needs of this group. Interviews will examine the information, support, and care that CF clinical teams provide around screening and spotting cancer, and how people with CF engage with it, and explore the experiences, views, challenges, and needs of clinicians and patients, covering aspects of practice and services that work well and suggestions for improvement.
This is a part-time role (60%FTE) for 17 months, starting 1st April 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter) until 31st August 2026. Flexible working (e.g., some home-based working) is permitted provided the requirements of the job can be met.
For an informal chat about this role, please contact Professor Laura Ashley at L.J.Ashley@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
Closing date: Monday 24th March 2025 (23:59)
