Can you provide technical leadership in the development of infrastructure solutions for future urban mobility? The WMG Lightweight Materials and Manufacturing team has an opportunity for a Principal Engineer to join their team which has achieved recent success in developing novel affordable light rail track system development.

You will provide broad ranging leadership in the field of transport infrastructure with particular focus on implementation/exploitation of the currently developed affordable light rail track system and its areas of innovation.

You will have significant experience in working on light rail track system development and knowledge of barriers to future implementation of change in that arena.

You will be a confident communicator with the ability to analyse and solve complex problems and engage with multiple stakeholders.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.  

About You

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to effectively lead and motivate successful teams, fostering collaboration and managing individuals who are technical experts in other disciplines.

They will be proactive and committed to achieving successful outcomes. 

You will also possess a good honours degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent in an engineering/scientific discipline, and ideally hold a postgraduate qualification, together with a serious appetite to engage in project delivery.

A pre-requisite is extensive expertise in the analysis of performance of light rail track systems via Finite Element Modelling as this is a key element to future exploitation.
