The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistic (MMLL) is seeking an enthusiastic and versatile person with strong communication skills to join our team in this permanent, part-time (0.6FTE) role.
As Communications and Outreach Assistant, you will work with colleagues across the Faculty, providing support for internal and external communications activity aimed at current and prospective staff and students as well as alumni, funders and the wider public. The postholder acts as Webmaster, updating and maintaining the site in line with Faculty and University requirements and analysing its use by those who visit it; leads on social media activity, enabling colleagues to contribute as appropriate; supports academic colleagues with maintenance of our virtual learning environment; maintains regular contact with our alumni through online newsletters; and supports communications-related projects, with responsibility for putting together the Faculty newsletter.
Working with colleagues, you will help maintain a strong and positive profile amongst our stakeholders. Managed and supported by the Senior Outreach Coordinator and embedded as a member of the team responsible for the administration of Faculty-wide activity, you will be the key contact for all matters relating to communications in the Faculty.
Your role also involves working to help support the successful delivery of outreach events, including evaluation and feedback, helping design detailed information leaflets and material and liaising with the Cambridge Admissions Office to promote our Open Days and outreach events.
You will be a well-organised and adaptable self-starter with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and with experience of creating digital content. You should have some experience in digital communications, and will be skilled at working with web content management systems. You will be confident in managing competing priorities and able to move between tasks at short notice to meet deadlines. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues, documenting processes, sharing good practice and facilitating continuous improvement.
The Faculty is open to flexible working patterns accordingly and currently operates a hybrid work environment, with staff combining office-based and remote working.
