Background
The aim of the Widening Participation and Outreach team is to support young people in making realistic, well-informed decisions about their future, challenging preconceptions, and helping them to develop the skills, knowledge and grades required to meet their aspirations. We work with schools and colleges in areas of deprivation or with low progression rates onto higher education, with young people who will be the first generation of their family to attend HE and students from a care background.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a qualified Careers Adviser to join the team to plan, deliver and evaluate careers information, advice, and guidance activities as part of City’s Widening Participation and Outreach programme. This role involves specialist input into events delivered on campus, in addition to conducting outreach activities (careers guidance interviews and group work) in schools and colleges located throughout London.
Person Specification
A relevant careers guidance qualification and experience of working across the curriculum delivering IAG activities is required for this role.
Good organisation, self-motivation and the ability to exercise initiative is required along with the ability to prioritise workload independently while working as part of a busy team. Highly developed interpersonal skills are also required to develop partnerships with external agencies and organisations and work with a wide range of staff within City. Excellent team working skills are also needed.

Please note that this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
