The Discipline of Botany in the School of Natural Sciences seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in the broad area of Plant Conservation. The successful applicant will have an excellent research record in field botany, plant conservation and/or restoration ecology. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in areas such as plant conservation and biodiversity, plant restoration ecology, vegetation analysis, conservation horticulture and environmental science.
The candidate’s research and teaching profile should align with the research mission of the School of Natural Sciences and that of the Trinity College Botanic Garden “to promote the importance and value of plants through conservation, teaching, research, innovation and outreach”. We are particularly interested in candidates who’s teaching, and research are complimentary to or can strengthen an existing field of expertise within the diverse offerings in the Discipline of Botany within the School of Natural Sciences. These include—but are certainly not limited to—plant taxonomy and systematics, plant molecular biology, restoration ecology and rewilding, palaeobotany, plant-human, plant-climate and plant-insect interactions, soil ecology, mycology and chemical ecology. Interest in contributing to the future growth, curation, digitization or horticultural management of living plant/seed bank collections at Trinity College Botanic Garden is desirable. While not mandatory, this Assistant Professor position offers a future opportunity to take on an Assistant Curatorial role at Trinity College Botanic Garden if desired.
Post Status Tenure Track – This position is Tenure Track positions which is 5-years in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements.
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Assistant Professor (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy [€41,500 to €99,550 per annum] www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf
