Salary on appointment will be £38,249 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £45,413 per annum (pro rata). 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Education and Lifelong Learning to research Early Years literacies. You will work in a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Spyros Themelis as part of ROMLIT, an innovative project which develops Early Years Literacies through Gypsy, Roma and Traveller heritage.

As a Senior Research Associate you will design and lead part of the work ROMLIT are undertaking on the development of early years literacies. You will analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to grant applications and may be involved in the supervision of other researchers in the project. Within this role you will be expected to make significant contributions to new knowledge. You will also be expected to foster strong research partnerships, strengthen capacity and pursue research impact in support of transformational change. You will be line managed by the Principal Investigator. 

You will have a postgraduate level or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant research area and a track record of independent research supported by publications in respected journals. It is essential that you have strong research and analysis skills and be comfortable working with qualitative data. You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills related to working with Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities and/or expertise in Early Years Literacies would be advantageous.

This part-time post (0.6 FTE) is available for a fixed-term basis until 31 July 2025. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
