About the Role

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to join Translational Gastroenterology Unit, Experimental Medicine, Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine (NDM).

This post is to work on the study of T cell responses to CMV in the mouse. We aim to define their role in healthy tissue, in responses to vaccines and in response to infectious challenges/vaccines and cancer. We also aim to understand the role of MAIT cells in supporting CMV-specific “inflationary” T cells.
The postholder will need to perform detailed analyses of CMV-specific T cells and MAIT cells in in vivo models and where relevant in human samples. Experience of mouse immunology studies and studies of T cell functions is essential. Experience in studies of antiviral T cell responses and/or T cell responses to tumours is a key asset and experience with studies of unconventional cells is additionally an advantage. This post has a strong bioinformatic focus so the ability to apply single-cell RNAseq methods to antiviral, anti-tumour and MAIT cell biology is essential.

You will hold a PhD in Immunology, or other closely allied area. Prior work in the area of immunology including studies of T cell phenotype and function in in vivo models is essential. It is desirable to have experience of actively collaborating in the development of research articles for publication.
