Tenure Track Position in the Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship

American University of Beirut – Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB)

The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) is inviting applications from outstanding candidates to fill a tenure track position in the Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (MME) track at the rank of: Full Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor, in the areas of Management, Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Marketing, Strategy, Human Resource Management (including HR analytics), Entrepreneurship, or a related field.

The advertised position is for the Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship (MME) track at OSB. Current faculty engage in a diverse range of research topics, with a particular focus on social issues related to business and management such as gender equality, leadership and business in the Middle East, refugee businesses, sustainability, and peacebuilding, with faculty members publishing in top-tier journals such as Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, Research Policy, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Industrial Marketing Management, and Business & Society.

The MME track is part of OSB, which is a leading business school in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Candidates will be joining an environment with engaging colleagues and outstanding students designed to balance excellence in research, teaching, and service. The business school is situated in a newly built OSB building in Beirut, Lebanon, directly overlooking the Mediterranean on what is considered one of the world’s most beautiful campuses. OSB was the first business school in Lebanon and the hundredth in the world to be accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and recently received the BSIS Label. Over 150 years old, the AUB is ranked among the world’s most prestigious universities and is regularly recognized as the leading institution in the Arab world. 

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities primarily include:

  1. Teaching - Design, develop, and teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs.
  2. Research - Maintain currency in the field through scholarship, such as peer-reviewed publications (ABS ranked, FT 50, Scopus Q1), presentations at conferences, and other scholarly activities.
  3. Service - This includes a) Service to the school and university, which includes attending department meetings, serving on university committees, and advising students b) Service to the community, profession and/or discipline. This service may include participating in industry groups, presenting to professional associations, serving on editorial boards, and/or reviewing for academic journals. 

Qualifications for Assistant Professor rank: 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. (earned, or close to completion) in Management, Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Marketing, Strategy, Human Resource Management (including HR analytics), Entrepreneurship, or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  2. Demonstrated Research Productivity – Strong research track record or research potential. A record of peer-reviewed publications, papers under review, and/or conference proceedings that indicate an active research pipeline. Evidence suggesting research potential will also be considered.
  3. University-Level Teaching Experience – Experience teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or executive education levels with evidence of effective teaching. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strong Research Profile - Publications in top-tier journals in the discipline (ABS-ranked 3 or above, FT50, or equivalent), with an established research agenda and potential for sustained contributions to the field.
  2. Expanded Teaching Experience - Ideally two or more years of experience teaching at the university level.
  3. Online & Hybrid Teaching Expertise - Experience developing and delivering online or hybrid courses, using innovative digital learning tools and pedagogy.
  4. Curriculum and Course Development - Experience designing, revising, or launching courses aligned with market and academic trends.
  5. Commitment to Inclusion - Evidence of fostering an inclusive classroom environment and/or mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications for Associate/Full Professor rank:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong Research Track Record - Publications in top-tier journals (ABS-ranked, FT 50, Scopus Q1) with demonstrated impact in the discipline in line with years of experience and current rank.
  • Extensive Teaching Experience - Ideally minimum of six years of university-level teaching experience across undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs.
  • Curriculum and Grant Development - Experience in designing and revising curricula and successful grant development, submission, and/or management.
  • Service and Academic Engagement - Active participation in academic committees, professional associations, editorial boards, or conference organization.
  • Demonstrated Commitment to Inclusion - Experience incorporating inclusive pedagogies and/or mentoring diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership & Administration - Administrative experience at the program, department, or faculty level.
  • Interdisciplinary or Industry Engagement –
  • Proven ability to work across disciplines or collaborate with industry/governmental organizations for research, consulting, or executive education.
  • External Funding Success - Track record of securing competitive research grants or industry funding.
  • Innovation in Teaching & Learning - Experience with digital learning tools, case-based learning, experiential education, or other pedagogical innovations.

  • A cover letter indicating the candidate's interests, goals, and qualifications for the position, elaborating on any relevant areas of emphasis in teaching and research.
  • A statement of current and prospective research interests.
  • A statement of teaching interests and experience, including:
    • Teaching/Course Evaluations and corresponding syllabi,
    • Aggregate summaries of instructor evaluations or other evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • A current full Curriculum Vitae (including a list of publications).
  • At least one sample publication or work under review (or the applicant’s Ph.D. thesis proposal or completed thesis).
  • A list of three referees (including their names, affiliations, and email addresses).
