Teacher of PE & Games

The Perse School

The Perse School is looking to appoint a PE and Games Teacher to work at the Upper School, starting in September 2025. The successful candidate will have a clear passion for all aspects of Physical Education. This would include the delivery of GCSE theory lessons and the possibility of A Level PE in the near future. The candidate would ideally have significant experience of coaching Netball, Hockey and Football, and some experience in our summer focus sports of Athletics, Cricket and Tennis.  The candidate would also be joining at a point where we continue to embed our new sports centre into the programme with a six-lane 25m swimming pool, additional sports hall and climbing wall to add to the already excellent sports facilities on site and at our Abington Playing Fields.

In total the PE and Games department is composed of 14 full time teachers, an additional 3 part time Games coaches and a Head of Athletic Development.  The sports specialists are supported by a wide range of teaching staff from different departmental faculties who coach in games sessions and take responsibility for sports teams at the weekend.

The staff are committed to developing teaching and coaching methods to bring sport to life for all our pupils. This is a very collegiate department where the active sharing of ideas and resources is the norm, ensuring the best teaching and learning occurs in lessons. Teachers encourage pupils to focus on individual progression within the curriculum by ensuring the programme is stimulating, varied and creative. We strongly believe that competitive sport is an essential component of our provision and pupils have an opportunity to take part in a wide variety of sports at different ability levels. We take great pride in over 95% participation of all Year 7 & 8 pupils in representing the school in a competitive sport across the last academic year.

At The Perse School, we value the well-being of all staff and offer a supportive environment that balances professional ambitions with personal growth, opportunity and work-life balance.

Closing date: 5th March 2025 at 9.00am but applications will be considered as they are received; The Perse School reserves the right to make an appointment before the closing date.

Interviews will be held on the 11th and 12th March 2025.

The School actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
