Christ Church and Jesus College invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Early Modern History.
This is a part-time temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil a current teaching need arising from Professor Mortimer (Christ Church) and Dr Gajda’s (Jesus College) teaching buyouts for the period 1 October 2025 - 30 September 2027 therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at either Christ Church or Jesus College.
The successful candidate will deliver eight hours of tutorial teaching per week, averages over the three eight-week terms of each academic year. Of the eight weighted hours, four will be due to Christ Church and four due to Jesus College. Applicants should be able to teach tutorials for the following papers in Early Modern History: History of the British Isles IV: Reformations and Revolutions, 1500-1700 for Prelims and for Finals; European and World History III: 1400-1650 (Renaissance, Recovery, and Reform), for Prelims: Early Modern Europe (1500-1700) for Finals. The Lecturer will also be expected to share in the teaching of Disciplines of History for second and third year students.
This post is offered on a two-year fixed-term temporary basis with a salary of £22,091-£24,411 (current rates) per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
