The School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University brings together a range of related sectors from built environment and construction; human and natural environments; engineering industries; and computing and IT industries in a dynamic and vibrant setting, with a rapidly growing student cohort. The Engineering Subject Area operates across both the university’s campuses and offers a range of programmes including civil engineering; building services engineering; electronic and electrical engineering; robotics and automation; and engineering management. Courses are industry linked and offered in a variety of modes from full time study, part time study, distance learning options and Degree Apprenticeship schemes.
With the recent expansion of student cohorts, the School is looking to recruit a high calibre Principal Learning Support Officer who will be required to provide technical support for students in a specialist area of Civil Engineering, including instruction to students and demonstrations of the use of equipment within the laboratory areas. The post holders will be expected to supervise the activities of students within the Built Environment laboratories, and to advise and instruct students and academic staff on the use and practice of equipment, materials, techniques and substances as required.
The successful candidates will a relevant qualification or relevant experience within a discipline related to the Built Environment, particularly related to Civil Engineering and/or mechanical engineering. Also, experience and expertise in delivering learning support and setting up of relevant equipment and resource management within a laboratory environment would be preferred but is not essential.
