The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Postdoctoral Research Associate or Graduate Research Assistant to participate in an MRC-funded grant “Using whole genome sequencing to identify non-coding elements associated with diabetes and related traits across ancestries”. This 1.0FTE fixed-term post is available from 1st May 2025 for 21 months. The successful applicant will be developing and applying methods for analysis of whole-genome sequencing data to identify novel regulatory and protein-coding regions associated with diabetes and related traits using large-scale population biobanks. You will be working at the forefront of a field which is in an era of rapid development and expansion, where whole-genome sequencing is becoming available at population-scale, unlocking new insights into human disease.

About you
For a PDRF
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in Genetics and Genomics, Data Science or Mathematics and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
PDRA
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess or be nearing completion of a relevant PhD, or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study (e.g. Mathematics, Data Science, Genetics and Genomics) and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
GRA
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study (e.g. Mathematics, Data Science), or equivalent experience, and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
