The University of Plymouth is seeking an inspirational individual to become a lecturer on a new MSc Expedition and Marine Medicine programme.
About the role
This academic position within the Peninsula Medical School offers a unique opportunity to contribute to teaching and research in remote and expedition medicine within a newly designed Master’s programme.
As a lecturer at the University of Plymouth, we expect you to deliver excellent teaching, contribute to the generation and transfer of knowledge through research and provide support for students. The position will include leading several key modules: Remote and Expedition Medicine, Marine Medicine and Human Factors in Extreme Environments. The role will also involve working alongside our business partner (Endeavour Medical), in the management and provision of residential clinical-skills placements on Dartmoor, the Cornish coast and on an international placement in the mountains of Spain or Morocco.
You will need to have a passion for providing education at a postgraduate level and hold or be working towards completion of a Masters’ degree qualification. Ideally, you will have clinical experience as a medic or healthcare professional and show a keen interest for practicing in remote or austere environments. A deep understanding of evidence-based practice and research is essential, along with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent organisational and administrative skills are also required.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.

For this role, you will need to be on site 1 days a week. Although we can acommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.
This part-time position working 14.8 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 12 months due to business demand.
This role will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check.
