We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Programme Manager to join the Cancer Data-Driven Detection (CD3) programme (https://www.ccge.medschl.cam.ac.uk/research-studies/active-programmes-studies/cancer-data-driven-detection-cd3-programme) - a new, multidisciplinary and multi-institutional strategic national research initiative dedicated to using data to revolutionise our understanding of cancer risk and enable early interception of cancers.
The Senior Research Programme Manager will play a key role within the CD3 senior operations and management team, wider CD3 Consortium and audiences across academia, NHS, stakeholders in the health and administrative data ecosystem, industry, the charity sector and the public to achieve the objectives of the Cancer Data Driven Detection programme.
This post is part of a newly established team based at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Cambridge, that will build on UK-wide partnerships to deliver the activities of the CD3 programme. The Senior Scientific Programme Manager will oversee the planning and day-to-day management of a diverse and complex workload encompassing thematic areas, workstreams and driver programmes. This will require significant planning and organisational skills to coordinate and monitor across a number of complex projects and work areas to ensure delivery of objectives within deadline. At the same time, the post holder will require a flexible approach to work to changing demands of the CD3 management team, the CD3 research community and based on external changes.
The Senior Research Programme Manager will be expected to use problem solving skills to respond to the diverse demands on the team. As part of a small team, the post holder will operate with significant independence and will require confidence and resilience in planning and in dealing with enquiries and challenges that arise across the centre's work programme. The post holder will make an effective judgement on when to escalate issues to senior colleagues' attention and with what urgency.
The post-holder will make all day-to-day operational decisions for their own workload and on behalf of the CD3 programme, where required. With support from the CD3 executive committee the Senior Scientific Programme Manager will identify, initiate and develop opportunities for collaborative working with the broader members of the cancer research community, the partner communities, relevant UK-wide and international partners and organisations.
The post holder will work closely with the CD3 executive committee, and workstream, driver programme and cross-cutting theme leads. They will build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the CD3 Research Community, the wider cancer research and health and administrative data science community, public and patients and other key stakeholders.
