What makes Goldsmiths unique?

Goldsmiths is a world-renowned university that has a reputation for rigorous and innovative academic work; creativity has long been our hallmark. Academic excellence and imaginative course content combine to make a place where creative minds can thrive.

About the Department

The Careers Service, part of Student and Academic Services, works in collaboration with students and colleagues across Goldsmiths. Through the effective delivery of a range of embedded and central services the service is critical to supporting the Employability of students before, during and after their time at Goldsmiths. As such, we are a key contributor to the overall strategy and key metrics of the institution including the Graduate Outcomes metrics, Teaching Excellence Framework and the Access and Participation Plan.

About the Role

Based within the Careers Service, which is part of Student and Academic Services, this role makes a key contribution to our work in supporting student employability. You will be working as part of a team of Careers Consultants designing and delivering embedded careers work in partnership within a range of departments linked with Creative Industries, working with students and colleagues from the School of Creative Arts and Media while also supporting a centralised careers offer accessible to all Goldsmiths students.

This permanent post operates on a part time basis (0.6 FTE), normal working hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. for 3 days each week. Occasional evening / weekend working may be required, although this would be minimal and time-off in lieu would be applied.

Please see the Job Description for a list of the main duties and the person specification for the role.

About the Candidate

The successful applicant will ideally hold a degree, a Careers Guidance or Coaching qualification and have relevant recent experience. It is anticipated you will work closely with students and academics from our School of Creative Arts and Media so a background in the Creative Sectors or experience of supporting students from across areas such as Media, Communications, Music, Design, Theatre and Performance would be of great value.

The ability to design and deliver compelling and impactful careers activities while being guided by data, labour market trends and the goals of the careers service and wider institution will be key.

As part of a small team, having a flexible approach to work and a positive, pro-active attitude will be of strong importance, as will the ability to build effective relationships with academic colleagues and to support students in an empathetic and inclusive manner.
