We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in and serving our communities and reflecting the unique environment of the Lake District. We are a university for our region with people, place and partnership at our heart. We are also a young university that is growing and evolving.
Diversification of our academic portfolio and activities, an expanding apprenticeship offer, bold campus developments, and strategic partnership working are driving this growth, informed by both regional and national sector skills needs. Our University Strategy: Towards 2030, articulates our ambition to deliver inspirational, inclusive and accessible higher education to students and communities for generations to come, and from a robust financial position we look forward to the future with excitement and confidence.
We are seeking a new Dean to take strategic leadership and management of the Institute, liaising as appropriate with external partners and internal institutes and services to ensure and enhance the quality of all provision and to grow a diverse portfolio of income streams in line with the University’s Strategy. The Institute has a large range of contracted education with our strategic partners including BAE, Sellafield, Rolls Royce and is the home of our national Project Academy. As such, an ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders at a senior level will be key to success.
You will require a record of high achievement in a performance-orientated environment involving inclusive management and motivation of diverse teams to realise their potential.
You will also demonstrate experience of developing and delivery of regional, national and international partnerships with industry, business and commerce.
This is an interim post in the first instance prior to recruiting a permanent Dean over the coming months.
This opportunity is available on a hybrid working basis.
