The Lincoln Medical School is delighted to be recruiting to the post of Lead for Admissions as part of the ongoing independence project. This leadership role within the medical school comes at an exciting time for both the School and the University, with the first planned intake of medical students due in September 2026 (subject to approval by the General Medical Council). It is envisaged that subject to all appropriate regulatory approvals the first cohort of Lincoln registered medical students will therefore graduate in 2031.
The medical school already has an excellent relationship with the University of Nottingham and has been delivering education to medical students as part of the Nottingham course over the last six years. The first students to study in Lincoln graduated last summer and are already delivering patient care within Lincolnshire and beyond. This role will work closely with colleagues at Nottingham and will be instrumental in the development of the Lincoln Medical School admissions strategy as the School moves to independence from Nottingham.
The Lincoln Medical School has a strong focus on widening access to medical careers through ensuring a diverse and representative group of students are recruited. We aim to train and retain students within Lincolnshire and the wider East Midlands region and the successful applicant will understand the unique nature of the opportunities and challenges within the region.
You will be medical qualified and eligible for a licence to practise. We welcome applications from a diverse range of doctors including SAS doctors, those who are on the specialist register and those in academic employment. The post requires both full registration with the GMC and licence to practise at the point of taking up the role. Experience of working in medical school admissions would be a significant advantage, as would any previous activities promoting widening access to medical school.
In addition to leading on the admissions strategy and processes for the School, you will also form part of the Senior Management Team, involved in key decision making at a time of significant opportunity and expansion. You will report to the Dean of Medical Education and the Dean of the Lincoln Medical School.
Please submit a CV and a letter of interest, detailing how your skills compare to the person specification and key responsibilities of the role.
Please note that this post requires an Enhanced DBS check.
For an informal discussion relating to the role please contact Professor Jamie Read, the Dean of the Lincoln Medical School at jread@lincoln.ac.uk.
