We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Information Specialist to join our talented team at Kleijnen Systematic Reviews Ltd (KSR). In this role, you will play a key part in supporting high-quality systematic reviews (SRs), meta-analyses, cost effectiveness analyses (CEAs) and health technology assessments (HTAs) that help to shape evidence-based healthcare decision-making. You’ll be working on projects with key commissioners to assess the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and contribute to improving health outcomes.

As part of our multi-disciplinary team, your role will involve designing and conducting complex literature searches, managing references, critically appraising research, and supporting the development of the KSR Evidence database.

The Role & Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Conduct Literature Searches: Design and perform complex literature searches using online databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov) to support SRs and HTAs
  • Document Search Methods: Collaborate with review teams to document search methods for publication, ensuring thorough and accurate reporting
  • Reference Management: Use EndNote to manage and organise references, screen search results and generate bibliographies in MS Word
  • Critical Appraisal: Critically appraise reported search methods from NICE submissions and other relevant publications
  • Database Management: Maintain and update the KSR Evidence Database, including conducting searches and screening search results
  • Scoping Searches: Perform scoping searches in response to requests from commissioners
  • Stay Current: Keep up with developments in database research, ensuring you are knowledgeable about the latest tools, techniques, and trends
  • Training and Support: Provide support and training in information management and search techniques to colleagues and external participants.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong work ethic and team orientation, with a passion for healthcare research
  • Significant experience with conducting complex literature searches using key databases such as MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library
  • Proficiency with reference management software such as EndNoteand tools like MS Office
  • Background in working in a specialist health or medical library/information service setting
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Highly autonomous as well as a motivated team player
  • Educated to degree level with a qualification in Librarianship or Information Science, or equivalent, or MA/MSc in Information Studies or similar.

Work-Life Balance & Flexible Working: We are keen to support family-friendly, flexible working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance. The role is offered as full or part-time (60% fte over a minimum of 3 days). This position is a hybrid, office-based role with an expectation to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week (100% fte).
