Post 110167 – Research Fellow 2-year FTC ending no later than the 31.12.27

A first full-time fixed term post is available until 31st December 2027. You will design, assemble, test and deliver power electronic systems for microgrid applications. These systems will encompass a range of components, including DC-DC converters, inverters, and test systems.  You will support the principal investigator and researchers on the implementation of test systems.

Post 110165 – 3-year Research Fellow/ Assistant Professor (Research Focused) FTC ending no later than the 31.03.29

A second full-time fixed term post is available for 3 years. You will design, assemble, test and deliver power electronic systems for the REWIRE IKC project. You will support the principal investigator and researchers on the implementation of test systems, carrying out comparative testing to establish a database of commercial power semiconductor reliability metrics.

In both roles you will conduct a variety of reliability tests on power semiconductor devices, including short circuit testing, current and voltage stressing, power cycling, and temperature cycling, among other evaluations.

Additionally, you will be involved in designing key system components such as gate drivers, sensor circuits, safety interlocks, and current protection systems. You will also work with advanced controllers, including FPGA, LabVIEW, and D-SPACE, to support the development and integration of these systems. As part of your duties, you will design test rigs and other necessary circuits to advance research in power electronics.

Your role will also involve providing support to the principal investigators and other researchers in implementing and optimising test systems, ensuring the successful execution of experimental setups and research objectives. This will require collaboration with a team of engineers and researchers to push forward innovative solutions in power electronic circuits and systems for microgrid applications.

The post will be based within the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick, which is one of the leading unified Engineering schools in the UK. The University of Warwick is fully equipped with all necessary materials characterisation and electrochemical testing facilities.

The level of appointment (Research Fellow or Assistant Professor (research focused) will be determined by the interview panel according to the demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge of the candidate(s).

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of the level 6 of the University grade structure.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
