We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Human T-cell biology at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) Oxford Institute. The laboratory of Dr Pablo F. Cespedes will develop the next generation of ex vivo methods to study, among others, how post-translational modifications (PTMs) influence broader aspects of T-cell communication.
As part of our team you will develop a thorough knowledge of cell-cell communication and maintain awareness of the latest technological developments in the fields of microscopy, flow cytometry and cellular and molecular immunology, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for use of human ex vivo models, including 3D organoids and histocultures. You will be responsible for planning and conducting cutting-edge research to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses, as appropriate, and you will maintain a good laboratory environment supporting collaboration and, welcoming and respecting diversity while promoting inclusion and equality.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in T-cell biology and have experience in flow cytometry, T-cell isolation, expansion (or cloning), fluorescence microscopy, and single-cell RNA sequencing pipelines. You will have experience in the culture of primary cells and the handling of human tissues, such as blood, palatine tonsil, spleen and gut biopsies and resections, and excellent communication skills, including oral and in writing. This is critical to maintain an effective team dynamic and for the preparation of publications, research proposals and results, and represent the research group at international conferences.
