The Role
This is an opportunity to join a dedicated group of academics in the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which runs a varied programme of research-led, accredited courses, complementing most aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, from drug discovery through to market authorisation. Your role will be to develop and deliver industrially focused application of Chemistry to Pharmaceutically relevant challenges/diseases. You will plan, deliver, and assess a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the above and related areas, using a variety of approaches. This will include classroom and practical work in our modern, well-equipped laboratories. It is expected that you will establish an independent programme of research and/or enterprise activity, using the latest instrumentation supported by numerous faculty and University-led competitive funding schemes, for emerging researchers, including PhD studentships. You will play an active role in the work of the department outside the classroom - for example outreach, open days and personal tutoring.
The Person
You will use your subject expertise in medicinal and analytical chemistry for the applications of drug design and development, with a particular focus on approaches that target prevalent worldwide illnesses. You will be imparting practical scientific knowledge, and real-world skills to students making them sought after in their future careers.
The ideal applicant will therefore have academic, and preferably industrial experience in drug design, synthesis, and analysis. In addition to your undergraduate degree, you will hold a doctorate in a relevant medicinal chemistry/pharmaceutical chemistry related discipline. You will also be a flexible team worker, responsive to needs of the department. On a personal level, your core motivation will be to deliver exceptional teaching, research, and support to our students.

You will be based within the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences which sits within the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy & Chemistry within the wider faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education.
