Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for a 0.4 FTE Lecturer (Teaching) in Arts, Health and Wellbeing to cover a period of maternity leave starting in May until December 2025, or until the return of the postholder. This is a Programme Leader role, to lead and represent Marjon’s innovative MA Arts, Health and Wellbeing programme.
The postholder will be educated to either MA or Doctoral level in any interdisciplinary area relevant to social engaged arts practices (or have comparable professional experience), with experience in HE teaching and relevant industry experience. We welcome applicants with any specialism within the creative arts (including visual arts, dance, drama, music, etc.), although they must be able to apply their knowledge of the creative health sector to work with students from diverse backgrounds and different creative expertise.
Experience of teaching at postgraduate taught level and the ability to build and sustain relationships with external partners, e.g. community organisations, health, social care and policy organisations, is essential. We are looking for a scholar-practitioner who understands the power of the arts to engage, agitate, educate and heal, and can use their practical and research-based knowledge to inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
What you’d be doing:
The postholder will take responsibility for leading the Programme, teaching on designated modules, and supervising final research projects. They will act as a Personal Development Tutor, represent the course at Open Days, post-offer information sessions and other student recruitment activities, including leading virtual interviews. This postholder will work with visiting and guest lecturers, invited to share their expertise with the course. There are no line-management responsibilities.
