About the role:
We are currently seeking a Teacher in English to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College group.
As a teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Preparing, delivering and assessing students on a range of courses and levels
- Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their full potential
- Managing students learning and providing a high-quality learning experience
- Contributing proactively to development of the department’s curriculum
- Ensuring all Statutory requirements, policies and procedures are in place and effectively communicated, implemented and followed by all employees of TBCG
- Carrying out all aspects of the role in line with TBCG culture and values
- Ensuring the student experience is kept at the heart of everything you do
- Teaching effectively on a range of programmes, levels, and qualification types recognising and meeting students’ individual needs.
- Researching, developing, and effectively implementing new learning materials in a variety of media to engage students in learning.
- Assessing students’ work effectively to meet awarding body standards and carry out verification and moderation.
- Monitoring and recording students’ progress and taking action to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
- Carrying out tutorials (both individual and group) to support individual students to realise their potential.
- Preparing and continuously reviewing schemes of work which are up to date and fully meet the requirements of awarding bodies.
- Extending the students’ learning experience through developing and implementing appropriate vocational opportunities e.g., links with companies, employers, work-related opportunities.
- Attending other TBCG campuses for team management, meetings etc.
- Supporting and participating in the implementation of group policies
- Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with TBCG policy and procedure
- Being responsible for promoting equality & diversity in line with TBCG policy and procedure
- Being responsible for following health & safety requirements in line with TBCG policy and procedure
- Participating proactively in training & development including any required qualification development
About you:
- Have a relevant qualification within the required subject specialism at a minimum of one level above the level to be taught.
- Hold a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification, for example PGCE/Cert Ed/Diploma in Education and Training
- Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching English
- Have recent experience of teaching English role
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have excellent organisational skills
- Possess the ability to deal with sensitive data confidentially
- Possess the ability to work both alone and within a team
- Possess the ability to travel to all campus locations for meetings, events, training etc.
- Possess the ability to adapt working hours to changing needs in the business when these occur
