The Head of Academic & Digital Practice is a new role within the University of Cumbria. Forming part of the management team of our recently established professional service, Learning & Teaching Enhancement, and reporting directly to the Pro Vice Chancellor (Learning & Teaching), the postholder will play a critical role in the implementation of our Academic Strategy and Learning, Teaching & Assessment Plan. This is an exciting opportunity to operate at the forefront of our strategic and operational transformation of learning and teaching across our University community.

The Head of Academic & Digital Practice will operate across academic Institutes and relevant Professional Services to ensure that our strategic priorities in enhancing the learning experience for all students are supported, nurtured and recognised across every aspect of our pedagogic practice. This includes ensuring that professional learning opportunities for all staff remain impactful, effective and timely.

Drawing upon internal and external networks, the Head of Academic & Digital Practice will coordinate a streamlined approach to translating our ambitions into teaching practice across all disciplines and types of delivery. The Head of Academic & Digital Practice will play a key role in overseeing and promoting our Cumbria Excellence in Learning & Teaching recognition scheme, recently accredited by Advance HE.

The Head of Academic & Digital Practice will be supported to deliver meaningful impact across the University, drawing upon scholarship and wider sector practice to challenge our thinking and reimagine the future of education. Operating at the interface between innovative academic practice and our wider digital ecosystem, the postholder will provide coordination to new digital learning initiatives, ensuring that our curriculum design and delivery engages thoughtfully with the opportunities and challenges presented by AI and supports all of our students to achieve sustainable successful in the workplace and society in general.
