About the Role
Applicants are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate role in the Centre for Advanced Robotics @ Queen Mary (ARQ), School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). You will be employed to work in the ERC-funded project EndoTheranostics and will be under the supervision of Prof. Kaspar Althoefer. You will be responsible for research activities and the development of soft robotic prototypes and closely work with the other partners of this project, in Turin, Naples and London.
About You
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree or having successfully passed their PhD viva (with minor corrections is acceptable) and a strong background in robotics, mechanical engineering or a similar engineering field. The job requires an in-depth knowledge about soft inflatable/eversion robotics, sensor data acquisition and processing, computer and system interfacing, as well as experience in documenting and reporting on design developments, including disseminating key research findings. You will support the development of soft/eversion robotic prototypes for medical applications, working on software and hardware aspects for soft/eversion robots operating in remote locations, ultimately achieving fully functional prototypes.
You will work in a team within the research group and with the project’s other partners, onsite and remotely, and must demonstrate research skills and the ability to prepare required project deliverables.

This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with 108 academics and a similar number of postdoctoral research staff. There are around 2600 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 250 PhD students. supported by a capable administrative and technical staff team. The staff and student body are international in make-up.
