This full-time, fixed-term (Maternity Cover) role is available from the 1st of June 2025 – 31st May 2026. Secondments will be considered.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Interviews are expected to be in-person and to be conducted week commencing the 17th of March.
Summary of the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Department Manager (DM) role in the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences (HLS). HLS is committed to transforming human health and well-being through discovery, translation and impact arising from our world-leading research, education and partnership at the interface between health, the climate and a socially just society. It comprises of 6 Departments (Clinical & Biomedical Sciences, Public Health & Sport Sciences, Health & Community Sciences, Healthcare Professions, Psychology and Biosciences) and these are based across multiple buildings and campuses, including laboratory, office, teaching and technical space.
The Department Manager is a key individual in the Department, working very closely with the Head of Department. As a member of the Department Leadership Team (DLT), their role is to support strategic and operational planning while ensuring the day-to-day delivery of operations as the professional services lead. They work closely with other Professional Services, other Faculty Department Managers, NHS partners and become part of a university-wide Department Manager network.
The successful candidate will have proven problem-solving ability and leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences including senior stakeholders. They will also need to have strong people and administrative skills. Those with non-HE transferrable skills are welcome to apply.
