About the role
Oxford Cancer is a city-wide research initiative and partnership between Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance and the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. Based at the Oxford University’s Biomedical Research Campus in Headington, we seek to harness Oxford’s world-leading cancer research from our growing network of 1,000+ members who are working in cancer-related fields.
GlaxoSmithKline and Oxford University (GO) launched the PRECISE Alliance (Pre-Caner Biology and Immunoprevention) in 2025 with the aim of conducting deep exploration of precancers to identify their molecular vulnerabilities and developing methods to intercept them.
This role will provide project management support to ensure the smooth, timely and in budget delivery of the programme. You will develop and maintain a governance structure that integrates the views of senior scientists and stakeholders across GO-PRECISE for the efficient running of the consortia. Provide day-to-day oversight and technical management of a portfolio of research programmes, ensuring key project milestones and outcomes are monitored and delivered. You will be working with Oxford Cancer Patient and Public Involvement Team to manage and maintain patient and public involvement into the consortia.
The post is based at Oxford Cancer, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE and is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 31st March 2027.
An early start date would be preferred for this role.
About you
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in a cancer, immunology or vaccinology related field and have experience managing technical or data-intensive cancer research projects. You will possess excellent project management skills, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
You will be able to make strategic decisions, apply analytical problem-solving skills, and develop appropriate solutions to complex administrative and management challenges. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to communicate scientific concepts to a wide range of audiences.
