The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and organised individual who wants to make a difference to student experience in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Law. You will be part of the Professional Liaison Network (PLN) – a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic team that run activities that connect students and staff across the University of Bristol Business School with external partner organisations related to their academic disciplines. Activities include: placements, projects, co-produced research, mentoring and other activities such as talks and events.

This role will be on a part time basis for three days a week and will be fixed term for a period of 12 months.

What will you be doing?

The Professional Liaison Assistant will provide professional and effective administrative support to the Professional Liaison Network (PLN). This includes supporting the delivery of subject-specific educational activities, including mentoring, internships, placements, events and talks. In addition, supporting other team members with engagement activities with external partners and academics. The Assistant will often be the first point of contact for PLN enquiries, liaising with internal and external contacts and passing on as necessary.

The role will include;

- Supporting the PLN Administrator as a primary contact for a range of PLN activities but specifically for applied student projects across the Business School, including administering processes and procedures, maintaining databases and responding promptly to queries.

- One of the primary points of contact for our shared mailbox and promptly responding to routine and non-routine queries and forwarding information to staff, students and external organisations.

- Administering processes and procedures, co-ordinating tasks and responsibilities to support the PLN with other engagement activities, including supporting with internal and external events e.g. mentoring events, open days and external partner events.

- Supporting the PLN team in marketing activities, including drafting material for internal and external newsletters, websites and social media.

- Supporting the PLN team with suggesting continuous improvements to activities, processes and systems.

You should apply if

You have:

  • Strong administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Office programmes (e.g. Excel) and learning to use new IT software and University systems

  • Comfortable interacting with a variety of different people
  • Enthusiastic about supporting students
  • Excited about making a positive and proactive contribution in this fast-moving area
