The Role
A unique opportunity to join one of the largest aerospace engineering departments in the country has become available as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Aviation Maintenance Engineering. You will be part of a dynamic academic team that is dedicated to teach aviation maintenance skills which sits at the heart of the airline industry. You will have access to some of the unique teaching and research facilities in the UK, including Rocket Propulsion Test Laboratory and Industry Standard Flight Simulators, 3D Design Studio and state of the art manufacturing workshop.
In this role, you'll deliver and assess undergraduate modules in aviation maintenance engineering.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a passion for teaching and a background on aviation maintenance. In particular, the vacant post seeks application from candidates who hold a Category B1 licence in Aircraft Maintenance (B1-Aircraft Mechanical Systems, Structures and Engine). In addition, applicants who have experience as a B1 type instructor from an airline are strongly encouraged to apply. Ideally you should hold a postgraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline and a PhD in a related field is highly desirable. Equivalent relevant experience in the field may also be considered.
The ideal candidate will bring practical, hands-on experience with student-centred teaching approaches in aviation and the ability to teach using a range of technology enhanced teaching platforms provided by the university.

This is a full time, permanent academic position with a starting salary of £44,154 per annum for a Lecturer or £49,218 per annum for a Senior Lecturer post depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
