The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) undertakes world-leading research and teaching into long term, chronic health conditions, operating large-scale long-term studies and projects to identify the causes, prevention and treatment of diseases that result in avoidable suffering for millions of people around the world.
The Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) at NDPH will provide strategic and operational support to the department, including overseeing the delivery of key strategic projects. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Department and senior academics as well as the Director of Finance and Administration.
Key strategic areas of focus will include Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), Human Resource management and operations, student administration, information governance, business continuity, administrative information systems, and reporting for external reviews.
The post holder will lead process improvements across the department and all academic units and groups, ensuring best practices are consistently applied, promoting integrated and agile working, and identifying opportunities for efficiencies. Additionally, the DDO will be responsible for developing resilient structures that minimize risks and ensure the effective delivery of high-quality professional services.
To be considered for the role you will be educated to degree level with senior managerial experience, preferably in higher education. You should have a proven ability to contribute to organisational strategy, manage large teams and motivate and develop staff.
The role requires significant experience of managing an administrative function within a large organisation preferably an HR function or student support function, with a comprehensive understanding of career development and training and developing workplace EDI policies. The candidate should have experience of developing and implementing administrative systems.
The position is full time (part time considered) fixed term for 5 years.
