The School of Health and Life Sciences is now seeking to appoint to the post of Lecturer in Optometry to contribute to teaching, research, knowledge exchange, enterprise and knowledge exchange in the Department of Allied Health Professions in the School of Health & Life Sciences.
This post is available as both an Academic Contract (PhD essential) to contribute to the School’s growing research activity alongside teaching, or as Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice contract designed to enable staff to focus their work on industry engagement alongside teaching.
The postholder must be a Practising Optometrist/ Dispensing Optician/ Contact Lens Optician on the General Optical Council professional register and have experience of teaching and assessing skills in practice. You must hold both a first degree and Masters in relevant discipline / equivalent professional qualification or significant practical work experience in a related discipline. You will utilise your knowledge to contribute to teaching, knowledge exchange, enterprise, and business engagement. Applicants must hold or willing to achieve a relevant Teaching Qualification normally within two years of employment i.e PGCHE/Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellow/Senior Fellow) accreditation alongside a Membership of a relevant professional body / Registered professional in the discipline / equivalent level of professional practice.
