The Aston institute of Photonic Technologies (AiPT) is one of the largest photonics research centres in the UK, pursuing a diverse range of topics at the leading edge including high-speed optical transmission, signal processing, ultra-wide-band amplification, nonlinear photonics, fibre gratings, fibre lasers, bio- and medical photonics, and optical sensing. AiPT maintains fertile collaborations with industrial companies and academic institutions throughout the world. It has recently successfully expanded, with brand new 1800 m2 state of the art laboratories, including clean room (~160m2), and capital equipment, and is now seeking an outstanding research leader to join this growing team.
As the successful applicant you will develop an independent and sustainable research programme and will have demonstrated that their unique capabilities offer synergies with existing AiPT groups, and opportunities to develop new research fields and technologies, with a strong awareness of regional needs. They will have a background commensurate with a Professor of Photonics including strong and productive track-records of:
