About the role:

We are currently seeking a Programme Manager in Construction Trades to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College group.

As a Programme Manager, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Leading the management of the operation and development of the Curriculum within a defined programme area.
  • Leading the management of Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (LTA) of programmes to ensure students experience high quality teaching and learning.
  • Representing your department/function at local and Group levels
  • Ensuring the effective management and performance of your team within the directorate and overseeing a high-quality provision from the team
  • Ensuring the achievement of both TBCG and departmental strategies and workplans
  • Ensuring all Statutory requirements, policies and procedures are in place and effectively communicated, implemented and followed by all employees of TBCG
  • Carrying out all aspects of the role in line with TBCG culture and values
  • Ensuring the student experience is kept at the heart of everything your Directorate does
  • Delivering a curriculum which is exciting, relevant and maximises student employability
  • Ensuring that student success rates and value added are maximised and are above national rates and contribute positively to performance tables
  • Ensuring the continuous professional development of all teaching and support staff within the Department are met
  • Teaching a fractional timetable on a range of programmes within the specified area
  • Attending other TBCG campuses for team management, meetings etc.
  • Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with TBCG policy and procedure
  • Being responsible for promoting equality & diversity in line with TBCG policy and procedure
  • Being responsible for following health & safety requirements in line with TBCG policy and procedure
  • Participating proactively in training & development including any required qualification development

About you:

  • Hold A Level 3 Apprenticeship or equivalent in a trade specific subject area
  • Have English and Maths or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent (L2)
  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent)
  • Hold an Assessor Award e.g D32/33, TAQA, A1
  • Hold an IQA award e.g D34/V1/TAQAEvidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs
  • Have relevant work experience in the sector to underpin subject leadership with credibility and authority
  • Possess the ability to effectively lead and manage a team of professionals
  • Possess the ability to set and achieve both personal and team goals to ensure the achievement of internal and external targets through the effective management and monitoring of team objectives and deadlines
  • Possess the ability to deal with sensitive data confidentially
  • Possess the ability to work both alone and within a team
  • Possess the ability to travel to all campus locations for meetings, events, training etc.
