Data science is an essential part of the world-leading scientific research taking place at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (KIR). Our researchers are using high performance computing (HPC) to analyse genomic, genetic and imaging data, to perform mathematical modelling as well as for translational informatics and digital pathology. In this role, you will join the KIR’s data science team to take responsibility for enabling scientists to use the HPC solutions that they need to conduct their research. This will involve working closely with students, post-doctoral researchers and group leaders to assess needs, provide support and training and to lead deployment and optimisation of HPC solutions, software and bioinformatics pipelines.
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject and/or an extensive background in scientific computing or managing Linux/Unix computing platforms. Extensive experience of using and/or administering computers running Linux/Unix operating systems and significant experience of writing and maintaining scripts in scripting languages such as Bash and Python and ideally significant experience of programming and/or compiling scientific applications is essential. Experience of GPU computing particularly as applied to image processing and common machine learning frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch and Caffe) is desirable.
For further information or to make an informal enquiry please email stephen.sansom@kennedy.ox.ac.uk.
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
