The Governing Body of Downing College, Cambridge, invites applications for election to the Everitt Butterfield Research Fellowship.
The Everitt Butterfield Research Fellowship is open to postgraduates from any university and is intended to support the early careers of exceptionally talented researchers who will go on to make significant contributions to Medicine and the Biological Sciences related to Medicine. Research Fellowships have generally been awarded to candidates who are approaching the end of their doctoral research or are commencing postdoctoral study.
The Fellowship may be held for a period of three years from 1st October 2025 and continuing until 30th September 2028.
The stipend is £35,116 (this figure is reviewed annually and standard increments awarded during the coming academic year will be included before October 2025). A non-stipendiary Fellowship will be offered to the successful applicant if they already hold a funded research position.
The successful applicant will become a Fellow of the College and will be entitled to all the rights and privileges of a Fellow. Full details are available by clicking the 'Apply' button above.
The successful applicant will also eligible to receive the College’s benefit package, including membership of USS pension scheme and subsidised membership of the College’s health schemes. The successful applicant will also have use of the College gym.
The new Research Fellow will be expected to undertake up to four hours of small group teaching per week in term-time (remunerated separately) and to become a member of the Governing Body of the College, participating in the governance and communal life of Downing College.
