We seek to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Centenary Events and Communications Officer, responsible for the planning and delivery of the Dunn School’s centenary in 2027 and managing the department’s Alumni network.
Reporting directly to the Head of Scientific Strategy and Projects, you will play a key role in supporting our centenary celebrations. You will provide strategic input, consolidate the Centenary Celebrations plan, devise milestones and have primary responsibility for its delivery. You will be responsible for submitting funding applications to support these projects as well as recruiting a team of volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the celebrations. You will also maintain and grow the Dunn School Alumni Network, devise and deliver a communication strategy for this audience and ensure compliance (e.g. data protection). A key aspect of the role is to produce promotional materials and communications regarding centenary events for a variety of channels, including the Dunn School website and social media, the magazine Fusion and other relevant channels.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have previous experience of working in event management and/or communication role. You should have excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and maintain excellent attention to details. You should have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and be able to take your own initiative and manage your own workload with minimum supervision. Previous experience of working in an academic or research environment, or in an alumni engagement role would be an advantage.
