About the Opportunity

At the University of Salford, we are proud to be at the heart of the world-leading innovations around social change and economic development that have defined Salford and Greater Manchester since the industrial revolution and transformed it into the thriving city region it is today – a place where ideas are formed that shape the world.

The Research Development Associate plays a key role in helping drive forward our cutting edge research. Based in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate, you will provide research development guidance and support to academics across the University, with a focus on priority areas in the Salford Business School, School of Arts, Media and Creative Technologies, and the School of Science, Engineering and Environment. This will include working closely with the relevant Associate Deans for Research and Innovation, as well as research institute and centre leaders, to support activities aimed at reaching the ambitions for research income set out in both the University and Schools’ delivery plans.

What will the Role involve?

We are seeking someone with excellent knowledge of the UK research funding landscape, as well as experience in supporting funding applications. You will provide proactive guidance for research planning and development, including working with academics on individual long-term funding development strategies. This role will involve building relationships with academics across the University, in order to facilitate increased cross-School and interdisciplinary research agendas.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues from all areas of Research and Knowledge Exchange in support of the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Delivery Plan. You will collaborate particularly closely with the wider Research Culture, Development and Environment team to instil a positive culture within activities across research development, planning and research governance.

What’s in it for you?

  • The research carried out at the University of Salford finds solutions to the really hard to solve problems facing the world around us. As such, by joining us, you can help make a real difference to the people and communities that we support.
  • You will be based at our Peel Park campus which is just 2km from Manchester city centre.
  • We offer a competitive salary and a range of employee benefits,
  • An impressive 32 days leave, plus bank holidays, additional time off at Christmas and the opportunity to buy even more
  • We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences and we support a culture of both flexible and agile working.
