The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced lecturer to play a key role in the delivery of our academic support provision.
Our aim in Academic Support is to enable students to fulfil their potential as confident, independent learners.
Based at Central Saint Martins (CSM), you will be a core member of the Academic Support team within the College, working with your colleagues from across the university to develop and deliver high quality support tailored to the needs of individuals and groups. You will be able to deliver this support in a range of blended learning environments and across courses within the Culture and Systems School. You will also implement and utilise inclusive practices to support students, recognising the diversity of the student population at CSM.
You will be able to demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge, expertise and experience in academic support and learning development, and be willing to contribute to scholarly activity, research and developing professional practice in this area. You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the subject disciplines taught at CSM.
About you
We are looking for someone who understands the unique challenges and opportunities of teaching in an art school context. You will be a well-qualified graduate with a teaching qualification, who has experience of teaching in further and/or higher education settings, who possesses experience of utilising pedagogic practice and blended learning.
In addition to this, you will be confident in addressing a range of students’ study requirements. This may include understanding academic vocabulary, reflective practices and assignment briefs, critical approaches to reading and writing, research skills, planning and time management, speaking and presentation skills, teamworking skills and evidencing learning outcomes.
