This is an exciting opportunity to join a research team aiming to achieve an earlier diagnosis of oesophageal cancer. The BEST4 platform trial is a National project funded by Cancer Research UK and the National Institute for Health Research.  It is an extension of our previous work using the Cytosponge test as a pioneering new approach that provides a simple office-based test instead of endoscopy. The overall aim of this trial is to determine whether the Capsule Sponge test can be used to diagnose cancer of the oesophagus at an earlier stage and reduce the number of deaths from this condition.  The Senior Research Nurse will work as part of a team overseeing all clinical activities and providing nursing support for the BEST4 study in collaboration with the Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU) at Queen Mary University  London.

They will be responsible for managing and coordination of training for nurses in mobile diagnostic units and secondary care sites in the administration of the Capsule Sponge. They will work alongside the Principal Research Nurse (BEST 4 Clinical Coordinator) and established clinical teams, researchers, research nurses, and administrators on document development, recruitment, sample collection, data entry, and providing clinical support to ensure swift and high-quality follow-up for positive test results as required. Applicants must have a professional nursing qualification and post-registration research experience in performing clinical studies. The post holder should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to help meet the objectives of the Project with a willingness to travel to sites. Knowledge of research methodology, ethics, and research governance of clinical studies is also essential. Experience in clinical research studies and/or gastroenterology would be an advantage.
