As part of our annual Faculty of Engineering Apprenticeship Training Program, we have an exciting opportunity to join the government’s level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.
Based primarily within the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, you will have a great chance to develop and grow your career as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant. We will support and help you to develop the skills, experience and knowledge you will need to succeed, whilst undertaking a full time 4-year Apprenticeship in commencing on 1st September 2025.
You will receive practical training in the faculty’s extensively equipped laboratories on a range of standard and specialised pilot-scale chemical laboratory equipment/instrumentation, techniques and processes from our experienced and qualified science/engineering technical specialists.
You will firstly undertake basic training followed by focused specialist training within facilities across the Chemical Engineering Department, allowing you to build new practical skills and knowledge in specialist chemical engineering and science disciplines.
Over the apprenticeship period, there will be opportunities for you to learn and train on a wide range of cutting-edge chemical laboratory technologies including:
Your formal academic training for the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard programme will be over a 4-year period and will be achieved via a day release program at a FE College specific to your needs, where you will be expected to progress to a qualified Level 3 Chemical Laboratory Technician.
