About the role
There is one post available as either a Grade 6 - Research assistant or Grade 7 - Research associate.
For 25 years, the Collaborative Computational Project for NMR (CCPN; www.ccpn.ac.uk) has developed software tools for the biomolecular NMR community, advocates and enables collaboration and promotes the exchange of expertise and best practices.
The CcpNmr software package is used by a growing user base, that includes academics and ~20 pharmaceutical companies as well. In this exciting project, there is a position available as junior software developer (at either Research Associate or Research Assistant level).
In this role, you will be working on code development, particularly with respect to the CcpNmr AnalysisMetabolomics programme, code documentation, training and other CCPN outreach activities. The current CCPN team, led by Prof Geerten Vuister, forms a highly collaborative and supportive working environment, with ample opportunities for work-related skills and knowledge improvement, as well as personal development.
About you
To be a candidate for this role you will have skills in Python programming, code development using the PyCharm IDE, revision control system (GIT) and will ideally have knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and the CcpNmr programmes/code-base. Prior experience of teaching, training and outreach activities is also desirable.
The aims and implementation objectives of the role are defined jointly by the CCPN team and yourself in direct consultation.
For the Grade 6 (Research Assistant) level role you will need to hold a Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline. You will plan and prioritise your own workload relating to the development of the CcpNmr software package under direct guidance from the PI, or senior member of the team.
For the Grade 7 (Research Associate) level role you will hold a PhD, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline. You will be expected to contribute to the development of the CcpNmr software package, as outlined in the aims and implementation objectives, and evidence your technical expertise and analytical problem-solving capability in this process.
