The University of Westminster has a long and distinctive history. Founded 185 years ago as London’s first polytechnic institution, it has become known for the many ways in which it helps students and colleagues to realise their full potential, regardless of background. Westminster’s founding values are to be responsible, progressive and compassionate, with a spirit that reflects the University’s global reach and location at the heart of a world city which is home to diverse communities.
Our Library and Archives Service, brings together a range of teams to deliver exceptional services that contribute to the success of the University’s strategic priorities. Circa 45 colleagues work in the service, across various physical locations and with a strong online presence.
Following a review period, which included a consultation led by JISC, we are looking for an innovative and experienced individual to provide strategic direction and development for the department, which is located within the directorate of Student and Academic Services.
The successful candidate will bring a strong vison for the whole service, exhibit leadership skills, professional expertise and a thorough understanding of how libraries and archives support learning, teaching, research and information governance.
As a member of the Student and Academic Services Leadership Team, you will ensure that our services align with the University's strategic priorities and sector developments. You will be responsible for strategic planning, management, development and reporting of activities and budgets, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
The Library and Archives team is compassionate, flexible and forward thinking, working together to deliver a positive experience for all service users in a supportive institutional culture. The service is committed to developing our colleagues through training and attendance at conferences. All our colleagues are encouraged to be active within the library, archive and research community.
