About the Faculty of Health Sciences
Created in 2005, the mission of the Faculty is to improve the health of individuals and populations and to reduce health inequities through excellence in interdisciplinary research and education, in partnership with local, national, and global communities. FHS is committed to social justice, respect for human dignity, and equity. This research-intensive faculty is home to a team of more than 50 multi-disciplinary faculty members, working with lenses from the humanities, social sciences and life sciences across a wide range of health research topics spanning from discovery in the lab to applied interventions in community. The faculty hosts over 1800 students who are studying in undergraduate degrees in the arts and sciences, and graduate degrees including an applied master’s (MPH), research-focused master’s (MSc) and doctoral training (PhD). The Faculty maintains collaborative agreements and partnerships with the BC government, regional health authorities, the First Nations Health Authority, research centres, and other health agencies.
